　　Ⅳ Teaching Procedures
　　Step 1. Warming up
　　 Purpose: To lead in the topic (styles and themes of paintings).
　　1) talt some Chinese paintings.(themes/styles)
　　2) Talt some Western paintings. (themes/styles)
　　Painting themes and styles were so different in different periods of time in Western history.
　　Step 2. Pre-reading
　　 Purpose: To arouse the students to learn the passage to solve the problem.
　　Question: Which periods of time do these Western paintings belong to?
　　Step 3. Reading
　　1. First Reading(Skimming and Scanning)
　　Task 1: Skim the title, the headings and the pictures.
　　 Purpose: To get a outline of the whole text.
　　Task2: Skim the first paragraph .
　　 Purpose: To get the general idea of the text.
